Starter......the screaming is the starter gear worn out and spinning against the flywheel.

Although if it starts...I would have to say a bearing on the belt somewhere, alternator, A/C (would have enough pull to stop and squeal the belt along it) or tensioner pully....

Take off the air air purifier, seem on the little glass window on the carb. in case you do not see a gasoline point, the two the pump, intake, or the filter out is undesirable. maximum inexpensive next step is to swap the filter out, next is the pump, finally the intake on the tank. some filters are a translucent plastic and you will each so often see rust/dirt settled on the backside. I honestly have individually unhooked the gasoline line to work out if the pump became into working, catching the gasoline right into a plastic gasoline can while commencing the motor. in case you notice gasoline, you have have been given no difficulty with the gasoline transport, pump or filter out, then you definately verify the choke, drift and the jets, in that order. If the choke plate is caught open, you get too lean and the engine dies, if the drift is caught, you don't get sufficient gasoline, oftentimes the engine would not die, and if the secondary jet is clogged you oftentimes can not improve up previous idle. The carb can each so often be wiped sparkling/freed up with some photos of carb air purifier spray all around and interior. If needed purchase a rebuilt carb, its not nicely worth it to rebuild it your self.

Since it died while driving and then started the screaming noise, you may wish to check your accessory drive belt. If a pulley has locked up it will sure make a screaming noise and may have caused car to shut off. Could be the starter as others have said, but that didnt make it die on you......

belt off, water pump, fuel pump, internal defects like cam or pistons, kinda hard to say without more discription, a high screechy sound is prob a belt look up front and see if one is wound up in there. a starter wouldnt cause the car to cut off, a bad altenator bearing would screech and if it wasnt charging would eventually cut the car off, is the battery dead?

it sounds like the starter isn't engaging, just spinning, get a new starter installed.
