This buttum is on the dash bord of Ford Mercury Villager 1995 and I do not know how it works?

its a switch for the transmission (a/t = automatic transmission) that electronically alters the shift pattern of the transmission depending on whether you want more power (P) or more economical (E) operation. In economy mode the transmission shifts earlier (lower speeds); in power mode the transmission holds the gear into a higher engine rpm before allowing the shift at a higher vehicle speed. Power mode is typically used if your driving in the mountains or up and down hills. Economy mode is used for around town and highway driving.

most people leave the button in the economy mode. I don't know if you'll really feel the difference on the villager as that's a pretty heavy vehicle to start with.

You have two wires they are red and black make sure they are connected properly.
