Gen. Douglas MacArthur made a landing at Inchon on the West Cost of Northern Korea, just like he used to do in the Second World War, landing troops behind Japanese enemy lines. He then ran an offensive up the Korean penninsula all the way to the Yalu River, the dividing line between China and Korea. The Chinese invaded Korea from the North in massive force. Mao's own son was killed in this offensive. The Chinese and North Koreans pushed the UN forces back to the 38th parallel.
