Absolutely...if everyone took a deep breath and converged on the problems in unison...the country could accomplish ANYTHING! But small mindedness, intollerance and short attention spans eliminate this as a possibility. People follow party lines first, and then think about the country's best interests. Its a sad state of affairs...

President Bush tried to make nice. When he first moved into the White House, he invited liberal Democrats for hot dogs and movies. The Dems have been trying to bite his head off ever since. I think the Dems are way over the top when it comes to complaining about the opposition. I think the Republican politicians are generally too polite. The Dems don't want to get along. They want to run the government and have the government run your life.

Well, first of alll its mostly demacrats that do the attacking, all though sometimes a fed up republican will, and in answer, its because the person dissagrees with them so much that they can't see how they could possibly feel that way. When the politician has laid down all of his cards and the opponent still won't see it his way, he turns to attacking.

"Democrats are communist lunatics - they care more about trees than people - if you'r not a tree or a communist, vote Republican."

Because neither party nor their sheep have the right answers for any of the problems facing this country. Instead of addressing their own ideological shortcomings they attack the other party.
