It relies upon on the guy. i comprehend people who get relatively indignant by it and that i comprehend people who ought to care much less. in my opinion, i think of it relatively relies upon on context and the guy who's asserting it. If somebody makes use of gay and intends for it to be an insult, then specific it somewhat is offensive. additionally, if it somewhat is somebody i comprehend to be already especially homophobic, i could get a touch irked. ordinary, in case you experience which you're offending a chum or some thing, only attempt to computer screen what you're saying and convey regret if that person is harm by it.

I don't get offended but then again I'm pretty laid back. I think I was more offended when I wasn't out of the closet by the phrase then now. It's just common language a phrase like that. There are some things that do get to me a bit but most people curtail their use of it when I'm around. It is bad if the word is used in a derogatory term but most of the time they are just common english phrases/metaphores.

Honestly, it used to annoy me a lot when I was at school. Everything bad was "gay" and when you haven't accepted yourself, that hurts. You know that most of the time people are saying it without thinking of the meaning, as it's just become a generic word for crap but it still isn't right. I think it is symptomatic of how gay people are viewed in general in society and added together with everything else, it's pretty crappy.

i don't get offended, I just don't understand how the word "gay" became the definition of stupid, or distaste. like someone will be watching a movie that they don't like and go "this is so gay"
The word gay has changed alot becuase first it meant happy then it changed to meaning homosexual, and now alot of people think gay means stupid. What will it mean next?

I don't. I say that stuff is gay all the time. The word gay didn't mean homosexual when it was first invented anyways. People use words in the wrong context all the time.

I do, but I bite my tongue because I know the people saying it are using it as slang, and that it'll die down when the next phase of slang moves through.

But it still cuts it's way through me at times, and I feel like snapping and whooping their butts. But I don't, because I remind myself that they're likely very good people, who just need a better vocabulary.

I don't get offended, but then again I tend to not place any value on the words of those who use derogatory terms like that.

many of us do, and many of us don't, the fact is, that whether intentional or not, it gives the word "gay" a bad meaning which, in the long run, isn't a good thing, i would avoid using it if i were you

I don't.... I even say that's queer or gay.. haha who cares?
People shouldn't be literal with everything...
like my momma always said
"Sticks and stones can break your bones..but words can never hurt you"
Words only have the meaning you put into them!
