First thing to remember that these day's 50 isn't that old. Times have changed but certain things are still the same.
Don't start dating until your ready then just be yourself. I'm not so sure about dating sites that's dangerously close to relationship Russian roulette. Look for someone at places you go like the super market, home improvement stores etc...
The big thing is just start to learn how to have fun again and enjoy going out. Also don't look at every women as a wife prospect. Don't look at age either just the person.....

Awww you poor thing. Well just because you're 50, doesn't mean that getting back into the dating game has to be hard. Just slowly ease your way into it and don't expect a relationship right away. Just go out and meet someone and hang out. If you're shy, you could go online and meet someone and have a nice conversation. It's not too late. You may feel a little apprehensive but that's ok.

my bro in law is 54. when my sister died 2 yrs ago he was lost. he moved out of state to start a new life and started doing the internet thing. he went to some of those speed dating things too. he says he's had a good time and met a lot of women. after you get back into hanging with friends and such, you'll meet new people too. give it some time.

Join a club that interests you. Heck at 50 you will have your choice of woman from the age of 38-56.

Go to church, join their singles groups, join a gym, take classes at a local college (lots of adults are getting more education). Take up a new sport/hobby. Find a Reuinion group online like Classmates and sign up, get in touch with old school chums.

hi
i don't think it will be too difficult to get yourself out there, and start dating again.
but a word of advice -- take a GOOD HARD LOOK at the person before you get too involved... lots of NEEDY men around that age out there, i've noticed..
take care of YOU and have a good time!
hugz.
