They're kinda asking you to put up with the commercials because they have to run them to keep being a TV channel. It's like a..."Hold on we have to show you some crap you don't want to see, but we kinda need you to see it and buy it so these people keep giving us money. Sorry..."

They try and make you "stick around/wait" to watch those "Make you want to rip your hair out boring commercials" because..they A) sponsored that television show/movie/whatever or B) Pay a good amount of money to the station (like ABC or Fox)...Which attracts customers..therefore they get they're money back if not triple fold. Basically..simple enough they pay the station to air them at a certain time of day..or during a moment where they know a lot of people are going to be viewing. An example..the super bowl. Big crowds equal big money.Hope that helps a little.

the tv stations are probably sponsored by those commercials' company, so since you're watching it, the companies get signals from all tv's watching the channel, and give money to the show from our own tv taxes.
or at least that's what my ma said.
