Now for something competely truthfull.
The Battle Of Britain was the turning point for the entire Second world war.
The British had a huge advantage with Radar, which the Germans underrated. It allowed the RAF to position it's outnumbered aircraft in advance of the German raids.
It was a very near thing though, as the Germans had the RAF on it's knee's with their attacks on RAF airfields. A navigation miscalulation by a luftwaffe bomber at night, caused the crew to jettison it's bomb load on London, a target the Luftwaffe had not previously attacked. In retaliation, Churchill ordered raids on Berlin. As a result of THAT, Hitler ordered mass raids on London. While London was being bombed, it gave the RAF the breathing space they needed to repair their airfields and bring more pilots to operational status.
Had the British lost the Battle of Britain, they would have lost control over the Atlantic. The Germans could have invaded Iceland, and blocked all supplies to the Russians later because they would have OWNED the North Atlantic. The US Navy would have had to split the fleet to cover the lost British navel forces, and would have been less able to deal with the Japanese in the Pacific.
There would have been no invasion of Normandy, as there would have been no place to base the invasion from.
Not having to fight a war on two fronts, the Germans would have gone into Russia with far, far more resources then they orignally used.
It would have taken years for the US to have built up it's military to fight a thoroughly entrenched German wehrmacht and kriegsmarine. WWII for the US would have started a lot closer to our shores then it originally did.
By thwarting Hitler, the British in effect, "won" the battle.

At the beginning of the second world war Britain had the only real defensive air force in the world. All others were aimed at supporting ground attacks hence the US had the US Army Air Force. The main purpose of fighter command was to shoot down the enemy .Radar played an important role but was at times bombed and out of action. What gave the British an enormous advantage was the Royal Oserver Corps.Thousands of volunteers with quiet primitive equipment sat beside telephones observing the skys. The telephone system set up was the eqivilent of the modern day internet. At the time no where on earth had a comparable system feeding info. on on numbers, height, speed and direction of incoming attacks. This meant that the RAF didnt need to fly patrols they could just direct planes where they were needed. The Germans first targets were RAF airfields and the RAF devised a new method of parking planes on the ground in 'E' shaped bays which meant if one part was hit the other half and its planes were un damaged. All these things would seem primitive today but at the time were revoluntionary and combined with the courage and determination of all the pilots concerned completely wiped out the enemys advantage in numbers.Computer projections have shown if Hitler had not turned his attention to bombing London the outcome would have been the same.At the end of the Battle of Britain the RAF had twice has many planes as at the start production methods had improved so much the German Luftwaffe were decimated.

The Battle of Britain was won with a typical bit of British trickery, let me explain. Firstly the RAF was vastly outnumbered by the German Luftwaffe, the Germans knew that they outnumbered them but did not realise to what extent, only the British knew this fact. To create an illusion of having more pilots than was actually the case the RAF pilots were taking copius amounts of stimulant(probably similar to amphetamines) so that they could literally stay in the air all night only landing to refuel, the Germans thought we had larger numbers of pilots patrolling the skies, this helped but most probably in truth the Battle of Britain was won through typical British grit and determination and the fact that we were just generally better pilots than enemy pilots. Also we were helped by the USAF but they were not very experienced pilots up to the points and a great proprtion were shot down over the Channel. Oh, I stand corrected, I just watched Pearl Harbour and apparently two American pilots defeated the entire Japanese airforce, sorry disregard the above, America won the war with a little hel from Britain. Ha ha. Bah

The RAF accidentally dropped bombs on Berlin, which tee'd off Adolph who then redirected his bombing of RAF airfields and radar stations to London. This was at a time when the RAF was nearly to it knees and the respite allowed them time to rebuild. The result was a stalemate....Britain did not 'win' as you state.
