First thing, check your water level for loss due to boil over. Then you can check, or have a shop check, the compression on the engine to look for blown head gasket or cracked head(most common killers in overheat situations). It could be something as simple as a stuck thermostat that is still causing the overheat.

Check your radiator to see if there is oil in the coolant. If there is, you probably blew a head gasket and may have warped the head. This is an expensive mistake. If your car is overheating, do not drive any further than necessary. The rule of thumb is that when you are overheating and driving, you are costing yourself about $100 per mile. Also may want to check the thermostat to see if coolant is flowing thru.

Sounds like when the belt broke, the water pump stopped pumping and you may have done permanent engine damage or you may have blown a head gasket. Sorry!!!

You busted the belt that drives the water pump, which circulates coolant in the engine.

Drive at your own peril. Get the belt replaced before driving it anymore.

Let me guess. You kept driving after the belt broke, right?

Take it somewhere and have it checked out. You still have a problem.
