whether or not the heel actually breaks off

it's not so much the heel or the shoe. it's more about the total outfit. i've seen women wear full-on 8 inch stripper heels with nice slacks and it's totally cute and not trashy looking, but if you wear those same heels with a tiny mini skirt, then suddenly you look like a hooker.

Some are cheaply made and look like hooker or stripper shoes. Others are elegant looking and not too gaudy; they are rather refined as well.
I have seen heels over three inches look quite good; it is the material they are made of and the style they are designed with. I have a pair of four-inch high heels that are made by Steve Madden and they are quite nice; leather, and otherwise plain black. They come in bone and dark brown in the same style, however.

to me trashy shoes are shoes that look like they are part of a stippers uniform. Generally speaking heels that are over 4 -4 1/2 inches are questionable even if you are short.

it depends on who's looking at the heels and also what you're wearing with them. If someone's out to get you, they're trashy. If someone is your friend or has nothing against you, they're sexy.

Clear heels are trashy. Heels should be resonable in height and not overly decoated or gaudily colored.
I HATE GOLD HEELS!!!

anything above 4 inches are trashy unless they are to boo theels....but if they are the boot heels if the boot part goes more that 8 inchesss on ur leg they are trashy

The height of the heels,the color, how shiny they are. 3 inches or higher= trashy!

probably, are they appropriate for the place they are being worn (ie. are you at work or at a club?) and, what are you wearing with them? And, what are you doing in them? trying to get laid or going to a classical music concert? sorry, but there are no easy answers to that.
