We just saw a little tiny molly swimming around our 55 gallon tank...the mom has been hiding in a rock and never seems to want to come out...i have fed her a lot when she does come out. What should i do to help the babys survive?

The number one thing would be remove them to another tank with no other fish so that they won't get eaten. If you can't do that then add as much rock a plastic plant as possible to give them places to hide. You can feed them some finely crushed flake food.

Remove them if you have the means to but speaking from experience these little buggers are HARD to catch due mostly to their size. If you do not have another tank then you can purchase a net house for around $5 at any fish store to put them in but Your best bet is to add lots of hiding places such as plants or other deco type items that only they fit in. Live Java moss is great and it also helps raise the oxygen levels in the tank as well as help keep the ammonia in check. They do sell many plastic plant type stuff for fry to hide in as well.
Continue with the regular maintenance, water changes etc. They sell fry food at petsmart/petco or you can just crush the regular flakes with by rolling some flakes between your fingers to a fine powder.
Best of luck to you

You can ensure that the fry will be safe by moving it to a different tank or dividing your current tank. It will only be safe if momma can not get near it to eat it. Even plants are not absolute protection if the baby ventures out into the open.

Put the babies in a separate tank, to avoid them being eaten.

Then just feed them, and do water changes as you would with other fish.
