I thought they we're going to FIX everything.

Maybe it's because the liberals won't let us build new refineries [ we haven't had a new one in 20 years], or maybe it's because they won't let us drill for oil in Alaska or the Gulf of Mexico, where Mexico already drills anyway. Every time the refineries shut down for repairs, the stock market goes nuts on oil futures, driving up the price. How about passing a bill for some new refineries. You can't blame George for that, but i'm sure you'll find a way.

The gas prices are a direct result of Democrats in Congress. the Democrats have blocked the construction of any more refineries and they have blocked oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and the Arctic. We have to import oil and we can't refine it fast enough all because of these Democrats, and yet they want to blame the high prices on President Bush.

You and everyone that answred this question so far are either very misinformed or just plain stupid, except B.Kirvorkian and Libstalker who both make very valid and informed points. There is not one poltician from the president all the way down to your city alderman that can control gas prices. Prices are determined by the countries we buy it from, the oil companies, and supply and demand. The only way a politician can do anything about prices is to petition for and vote to lower the outrageous taxes on gas. The government taxes on gas make up more than half of the price. Now for all you liberals that say Bush and his friends control prices why don't you tell your representatives and senators to allow us to drill in Alaska and everywhere else Bush and the republicans keep trying to get passed so that we don't have to buy foriegn oil at outrageous prices? You know our own oil would be far cheaper than foriegn oil, and then if you combine that with tax cuts on gas we could very easily see gas back down around $1.00 or even lower. One last thing for you libs. some of your representatives and senators are invested in oil companies and Haliburton, so stop blaming everything on Bush and just face the fact that your liberal congress people are just as corupt and in most cases more so than any conservative is.

That might have something to do with supply and demand. The supply is about the same and the demand is increasing. Prices are only going to go up with the 110th Congress planning to take away incentives and tax breaks for oil companies.

Supply and Demand.

The only thing Congress could do to reduce the price you pay at the pump would be to cut gasoline taxes (which are already low compared to many other countries). And we are talking about Democrats, here.

When will Chain Gang Cheney disclose, or perhaps be FORCED to disclose by subpoena, the transcripts of the secret "energy" meetings in 2001? The answer lies, (and the lies told by the Dumbya Coup), there to be disclosed. There a STILL too many Repukes in Congress to fix everything over a veto. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

I agree,Dems need to begin investigations immediately.Unfortunately that is not a priority to them. They want people to become more green and use less.Republicans are not going to do anything because of pure greed.Bush and his buddies are getting richer everyday.

They're going to wait until Bush goes out of office before doing that so that they can lower prices and then scream "SEE! We told you it was Bush's fault!"
