Living in the small southern Louisiana town of Pierre Part, the closest to Hollywood being television, my big dream of becoming an actor just seems impossible. While others encourage me, most people say its impossible, just give up, be realistic. I've been to California twice, Hollywood once...[vacation] Do you have any ideas of how a 14 yr. old guy like me could ever start acting??

I won't lie and say "everyone can act" like some friends of mine do. But, many many famous people were discouraged or told they couldn't do it, but they made it anyway. Why can't you be another one?
Plus, if your dream is to just be an 'actor' there are commercials, TV shows, plays, music videos........ What I mean is, there are tons of ways to act if you don't have enough talent to be a star.
I would start out at a JC and see how things go. Or, see about joining a community theatre troop if stage acting appeals to you.
You'll most likely know if you can do it or not. Passion is usually an early sign of talent. Not always, but often. Also, keep in mind that many actors and actresses are very shy. They aren't always the outgoing, charismatic person.
Just give it the best you've got. If you give up because you're "not being realistic" you will always wonder and wish. If there's a dream you have in life, chase it and see what happens.
Good luck!
Johnny Depp grew up in a Kentucky corn town as the bozo of the place. Being from a small town doesn't catagorize you as a loser.

You're young. Start acting in school and local productions and get as much experience as you can. If you want to really get into the business, it will take lots of money and dedication. You will absolutely have to move as well. Los Angeles is best, but there are small concentrations of acting work around the country. The closest to you would be Florida (Tampa, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, or Olando have the most agents) but really LA's the place to be.
You can however do searches to see if there are auditions in your area, especially if there's productions shooting locally or theatrical productions at theatres nearby. Try backstage.com and actorsaccess.com.
Good luck!

Don't give up on your dreams! Being an professional actor isn't an easy life and there is going to come a time when your going to wonder if it's worth it but that's something you're going decide for yourself. Don't ever let people tell you you can't do something, if you want to be an actor bad enough and are willing to work hard and sacrifice for your dream then I'm sure you'll find a way to make it happen someday!

My idea is what the person above me (i think) said before. Put some of your skills on youtube. It's the best place for people to actually see what your capable of. To tell you the truth, I want to become a singer or actress. But my mom always tells me that you need to know someone that know's someone to become famous. what i think you should do is make videos of yourself acting out different parts and then post them on youtube or any other websites that u can post videos, then you could always try sending videos to producers and stuff in Hollywood or if you school has any plays or your community has plays go out for a part and I'm sure you can do it you just need to practice
