I have an onboard nvidia geforce 6100 gpu with available PCI-express slot. Is this something i can do myself or will i need the geek squad?

It's pretty challenging when you have never opened the PC case and touched anything inside. If you have added a memory stick in there yourself, then it is easy. You just need a screw driver. Just don't be tempted or be sales-talked to buy the powerful cards that your computer can not handle.

you can do it by yourself.open the case,insert the graphics card to it slot and close the case.then start your computer
and install the driver from the cd included in package

(you must shut down your computer to do this)

if you not sure where the slots refer from motherboard or graphic card manual(remember!this step maybe damage the card or slot)

it all depends on how handy you are

here's a step by step
1. open pc
2. place graphics card into an empty pci-express slot
3. run the disk that comes with the card and follow the instructions on it

Dead easy - follow above steps.

get yourself an anti static wrist strap, to avoid frying your card when fitting it!
