i gave forty pallets to a company, to clear up the yard at work, the driver paid forty pound. i handed the money in a day late.
with no invoice, as i was not given one. the company feels that i have done something bad. and have suspended me from work, i am innocent and have done nothing wrong, but am still being accused,is trying to keep the company tidy really a bad thing to do.

i take it your a yardman, done it myself got treated like crap. managers think its easy being out in the pissin rain all day driving the forklift unloading/loading lorries hand stacking the pallets without gloves and keeping the compund tidy and clean but god forbid you use your initaitive they see that as a case for dismissal or suspension. i left them with no notice i just walked out on friday quitting time. the place has been in disarray ever since. get yourself another job but dont tell them your leaving. fuc'k'em scrot bags. your obviously a good honest worker, maybe another company will appreciate that. at the very worst all you should have gotten is a verbal. suspending you for making the company 40 quid profit on scrap pallets bunch of wankers mate.

If you're dismissed you could claim unfair dismissal. The company accepted the money after all. They could have been charged for having the rubbish taken away. When they reinstate you make sure you ask permission every time you empty a bin! They will soon get pissed off with that. There is always the small calims court to sue them for up to £5,000. One guy who worked for a pallet company near the docks - I think it was in Liverpool some years ago started his own company buying broken pallets - and either fixed them and sold them back or sold them for other purposes or the timber from them. Where I live there is a shortage of fencing panels for some reason and the guy next door made a panel from pallets!

You should have asked the driver for Invoice so your Company could be charged for the cost of taking away rubbish...

At my last place of work they decided to clear out the stores of a loda of old computer kit to make room for new product.

Initially everything was piled up next to the skips.

As soon as Employees noticed good kit being dumped we asked to be allowed to take it home.

The Managers woke up to the fact that the kit had some value, they made us put it all back and called in a 'recycling' Company instead.

Their being a bit harsh if you handed in the money - if they don't trust you why don't they phone the driver and double-check with him?
Speak to the citizens advice bureau or a solicitor who will give you a free half hour consultation.
If you are suspended without pay you will need something to live on.

I think you sound too good for the company you work for.

You got rid of a load of rubbish and got money for it

By the sound of it you saved your company the cost of a skip.

Do you know the company you sold the pallets too.

I hope all goes well , after all you tried your best

What you did was sell the company's property without permission. Your motives might have been good, but you broke the rules and now they are wondering if they can trust you.

Ouch, that is harsh for doing that, but as stated, you did sell company property without permission.
