Personally I think that its a joke. Don Imus spoke is mind....isn't that what freedom of speech is for?

Mr. Imus' contract was breeched and he will win the 100 million dollar award. My understanding was he was hired to say irreverent things, knowing that listeners have the right not to listen, similar to me not wanting to hear rap music.

Imus can SAY whatever he wants under his First Amendment rights, but CBS is not under a legal obligation to give Imus a platform for his views. That is a contract issue, not the First Amendment.

Imus can stand on a street corner and yell "Nappy Headed Hos" all he wants and the government cannot punish him, but CBS is under no legal obligation to spend millions of dollars to broadcast that opinion to the nation.

the potential is with the market. Sponsors are bailing out because everybody is expressing their disgust at Imus, and the companies are fearful about dropping sales. If corporations were as effective as human beings imagine, why did New Coke fail so spectacularly, back in 1985? They spent a ton of money to push it!

He wasn't fired because he "spoke is mind". He was fired because sponsors pulled their advertising from his show. It was about money and profitability, not free speech. Don Imus could say whatever he wanted - no one disputes that. But, every action has consequences and, this time, the consequences were bad enough to get him fired.

He's a fool who deserved to lose his job. Free speech is fine when it's only you doing the speaking, but Imus was an employee hired to do a job. When he overstepped his bounds, his employer had every right to can him.

I think it's over and I'm tired of seeing it in this section...

Did you know there's a war going on?

Did you know that a far bigger enemy to blacks is the ruthless diamond trade?

Well... did you?

Yes. And I wouldn't doubt that all of those girls on that basketball team have said something bad about someone else before.
