Nuns who lived during the Middle Ages were for the most part cloistered, that is their lives were confined to the monastery and convent. They were not active in missions to convert people, and they proably did not need to be, as Christianity was the primary and most influential factor on the totality of medieval culture.

same thing they do now.. nothing.. they stay in the convent, help the less fortunate by feeding and clothing them.. and educate them.
