Problem: 4n-n-4 = 2n-3

Steps:
1. combine like terms. 4n -n is 3n. so now your equation should be 3n-4 = 2n-3.
2. PEMDAS. (please excuse my dear aunt sally=parenthesis exponents multiply divide add subtract)

Ok well no parenthesis.
No exponents.
No multiplication.
No division.
Should you add? YES!

3n-4 = 2n-3
+4 +4

now your problem should look like: 3n=2n+1

3. You only want n on one side so you subtract 2n from both sides.

3n=2n+1
-2n -2n

now your problem should look like: 1n=1 which is the same as n=1.

ANSWER: n=1

4n-n-4=2n-3
First, complete the subtraction on the left
3n-4=2n-3
Next, subract 2n from both sides (remember to always do to one side what you do to the other).
1n-4= -3
So, what minus four equals negative 3? If you can't see it right away, add 4 to both sides to get n alone.
n=1
