Stick with 5w-30 year round. This viscosity cools the engine more efficiently than 10w-30. Since GM calls for this viscosity range it's fine from Alaska to South America.

As for brand in my 50+ yrs. experience Havoline, Valvoline, Kendall and Quaker State are all good solid Texas oils. Brad Penn, and Gulf are good Pennsylvania brands. If you can afford to go with synthetics Mobil 1, Amsoil, Havoline Quaker State Pennzoil, and Valvoline will cool your motor better and have lower pour points and higher flash points. The detergent packages are better in synthetics also.

100% of all Craftsman Trucks, Busch and Nextel Cup Cars use extremely low viscosity synthetics in their racing engines.

SAE 10W30 would work, though 5W30 might work better in colder climates. Depends on where you live.

In general if temps go pretty high like in Arizona or Nevada, 10W30, otherwise 5W30 for reduced weight, and thus a very minor improvement in power(The crankshaft has less resistance when going through the oil sump) and better flow when cold.
