Because 9/11 turned the average American into a simpering sheep, and not enough of them have recovered their wits yet.
I work in Manhattan, and the only thing I am afraid of are speeding taxis that blow red lights!
The terrorists are not going to attack us on a scale like 9/11 again. If there are any attacks, it'll be rouge groups like the 6 geniuses from Fort Dix.
Anything bigger and you can guarantee Giuliani and the other neocons had a hand in it.

Listen dumb dumb, a) there's certainty of future attacks, look at the history and current plans/statements; b) there's certainty in increased severity of said future attacks, again, listen/read what the enemy is up to, from their mouths, not cnn, or fox, or Bush; c) if you live in a high profile area (DC, NYC), you will be hit again, it's only a matter of time, see again history + current mouthing off.
I wish it was people like you who were killed/injured 2/26/93, 9/11/01. I wish it was your family/friends. Perhaps then people would be more than statistics to you.
Your simplicity of thought and utter ignorance about this issue reflect the immaturity of a young student who hasn't spent a day in the real world. All the rest of us can hope for is that wastes like you are on the receiving end of the next inevitable attack.

For a person who puts logic and Christian together for your name you do not have either. Yes the chances are small of dying in a terrorist attack, but Osama Bin Ladin wasn't just trying to kill he was trying to hurt the economy. Radical Islam kills thousands of Christian each year in countries that have nothing to do with Israel. Islam is predicted to take over Europe in the next 30 years. As a Christian I am not worried about dying but I love my country and I love my fellow Christians so I am worried about Radical Islam. You are buying into the Lib template that is pushed on the 5 o'clock news that we can live with terrorism, a death here a death there, no worries. Yeah right, go live in Israel.

You are right, in that the odds of you PERSONALLY being involved in a terrorist attack are very slim. But don't think that you would be immune from its effects. A successful attack on our soil would have profound economic and social impact on this country. Just look at what happened to the economy of the DC area during the much publicized sniper attacks by Malvo and ?? (can't remember the other guy's name) or the anthrax scare at the post office...and these were extremely limited in scope. Just imagine something big...and it wouldn't have to be on the scale of 9/11.

Oh boy, no offense, but this is a terribly naive question. Our nation is relatively safe because of all of the people we have working around the clock, monitoring intelligence, tracking problems, securing our country. If they weren't doing their jobs, those 6 people would have gotten away with their attack on Ft. Dix. They are here, they are making plans, and waiting for the U.S. to let its guard down. Just because you don't hear about every little thing that they catch and stop, does not mean that its not a very real threat.
Edit: To anyone that thinks there aren't terror threats, please don't complain about the government not doing its job or missing something if, heaven forbid, something happens.

Because our current president ran his entire previous campaign on fear. And they are still doing it, giving us Alert Levels, and telling us we are certain to perish with a democratic president, the terroists ARE out there and they WILL attack again...when someone beats this into your head everyday, you begin to believe it.
I'm not saying terrorism isn't a real threat...it is....it always has been, but ruling a country with fear is an act of terrorism itself. A study taken has shown that when people are afraid, there civil liberties are the first thing they are willing to give up. Hmmm, how convienent for this administration, lets scare the crap out everyone, now we can tap there phones, read there mail, arrest and detain people without warrants, deport law abiding citizens, make and pass something as idiotic as the Patriot Act, and all the while the people with the right friends and connections are having their pockets lined.
The citizens of this country aren't afraid on their own, we have been told to be afraid....almost everyday for the last 5 years. And it is wrong on more levels then one.
Thankfully, I believe the American people are starting to come out of this 'fear haze' and are finally seeing the injustices that have been taking place on our OWN soil, by our OWN leaders.
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself."
And to quote Keith Olberman
"-and those who would exploit our fear, for power and for their own personal, selfish, cynical, gain."

I don't know? Maybe because there's a group of people out there that has nothing better ro do except think of ways to inflict damage on AMerica. No I'm not talking about the Libs, I mean the terrorist. We saw what they could do on 9/11 and that alone is enough to scare the piss out of me. I know you Libs think that talking to them will stop the violence but what you don't understand is while they're saying nice things to your face their comrade is putting a bomb in your back pocket.

The White House likes to keep you afraid. That's the only reason GW got re-elected. The media keeps you informed and the politicians keep you afraid. Only 622 days left until King George is out. Anyone will be better, from any party.

but it is not that simple -
What if they effect the food supply - look at how the pet food issue has spilled into our food supply - that could easily happen to your food -
A Suitcase Nuke -
A suitcase Biological or Chem
It is not as simple as a person and a bomb on their chest, etc.
But hey - I will gladly send all the ones here over to your neck of the woods.
