I've always wanted to be an actress but I'm kinda shy but if i can break out of my shell i think I could be pretty good. I've never taken classes and I live in Arkansas so there is not too much acting to get into, also i'm 20.

Local little theatre, improv groups, call your local highschool drama teachers and ask for info....go on auditions for plays, films, commericals, get head shots taken, send them to agents.

Check colleges in your area...film/tv/broadcasting students are always shooting short films etc and need actors.

Learn a few monologues. Pick characters you can identify with and learn them till you can nail it every time. These will be helpful in auditions.

Make friends with other actors, learn from them.

I am pretty sure there are great agents out in the beautiful state of Arkansas. I am actually going to move out there in the Fall because my man is from Hot Springs. I have already looked up the needed information and I am going to book me an agent and just get signed to little gigs here and there. The more you get your face and talent out there, the more you'll get a response. I am actually in Plus Size modeling, but it's kind of in the same business. So I say you get a great agent who is worth the money you pay...Have him book you into gigs that fit YOUR interest and get yourself out there. It may require traveling, so you have to be ready AT ALL TIMES. Follow your instincts and good judgement before you jump into certain acting gigs because some gigs can ruin your career faster than you can say 'Go. You need to get out of your shell...and acting classes will help you on that...Just keep attending and do you. Shine like there's no tomorrow...
Good Luck!!!~ =)

Start by taking classes and participating in local theatre productions. Once you're a little more comfortable, then you can work on getting an agent. ;-) Check backstage.com and do a search for non-union auditions in your area. Good luck!
