Here are a couple I can think of off the top of my head.

The Capitol building contains a tomb which was intended to receive the remains of George Washington. But either George or Martha seem to have vetoed that idea, because Washington is buried on his estate in Mount Vernon.

The Capitol was torched by the British in 1814 during the War of 1812.
