but now I want it 24/7. I can drink 3 liters in one day no problem. My doc said that caffeine is fine and there hasnt been anything proving it is bad for baby. does this sound right to you?

That is so strange because whenever I get a soft drink now all I want is Dr. Pepper, too. I don't know why. Isn't Dr. Pepper supposed to be composed of a bunch of different flavors, much more than things like coke and pepsi? Maybe we like it so much now because it has so many different tastes (even if we aren't aware of it) and it is more satisfying than the others. I'd still try to limit your intake, though. I'd say 2-3 cans at most a day if you can.

I'm gonna say yes. The main concern with DIET soda is the aspartame, or artificial sweetener in it. As of now, there are no conclusive studies that it does anything to harm your baby. I read up on this and checked with my doctor asap because I LOVE diet coke. She said, and I have read, that if it is in moderation, than it should not be a problem. Therefore, AT MOST, I will have 1 a day, but generally only about 3-4/ week. If you are worried abou the caffeine, the yes, you can still have it. Pregnant women should not consume more than 200mg of caffeine/day. One can of cola generally has 35 mg, while diet cola has 45 mg. Coffee is fine, too... in moderation. I personally switched to decaf, and then to none at all. Coffee has 135 mg in 1 cup/8 ounces. Even decaf has 5 mg in a cup. Just remember that it's up to you what you put in your body. Women have been having babies for years and years, so just be cautious and consume the diet dr pepper in moderation! Congrats!! **13 weeks and counting!**

I have always been a crazed dr pepper fan lol

Both times I was pregnant each of my OBs told me to limit my caffeine intake to two 8oz servings a day. They said too much caffeine inhibits calcium absorption.

Not to spoil your fun..but I would try to cut back if I were you. There are a LOT of calories in soda and a ton of sugar! You could put yourself at a higher risk for gestational diabetes or "worse"...have trouble losing the baby weight!

I just bought myself some dr pepper flavored chap stick to "satisfy" my cravings lol...I use it all the time :)

unless you drink like 3 liters of coffee a day too, your doctor seems to be right. if it is the only caffeinated drink you drink, i think you are really ok. I am a dr.pepper FREAK and if i don't have at least one 12 oz. can a day, i go through withdrawals...no joke! just make sure you are drinking a lot of water as well! if you are craving something, that usually means your body needs something from whatever it is you are craving. maybe you need the caffeine to keep your energy up...but either way i think you and your baby are safe!!!

Yo girlfriend! Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you can use the craving excuse. 3 litres is WAY too much!
Did you tell your doc how much you consume in the first place?
Cut down on it. I know this may sound crazy, but have you tried water? It's way better for you and the baby.
Each time you crave for it, tell yourself you'll have less weight to get rid of after the baby comes.
Good luck!

Yes, almost all women have some sort of craving during pregnancy, like pickles, ice cream, or, in your case, Dr. Pepper. This is normal, and your doctor is right. I would watch the caffiene intake anways, though, just to be on the safe side.

Oh man....if you like Dr. Pepper have you tried Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry Vanilla? Holy moly!!! It is seriously the BEST soda I've EVER had in my life. And trust me, I hated soda before pregnancy. Now that I'm pregnant I crave it all the time.

Yeah...also, Dr. Pepper comes in a caffeine free version, if you're worried.

You might also try eating a few prunes, to see if that takes away the craving...much of the flavor in Dr. Pepper comes from prunes, so it might accomplish the same thing.

I also got the Dr Pepper bug while pregnant. Now i dunno whats up with your doctor... most doctors warn to cut down or do away with caffiene all together.

I drank lots of soda during my pregnancy and my son was born with an abnormal startle reflex. It was because he was basicly all hopped up on caffiene. It took a few days to get it all out of his system and he was normal, but not before loads and loads of nuerological tests and other stuff. With my second son, I cut waaay back on the caffiene and had no problems. Good luck!

Also remember the sugar in that soda... thats ALOT of sugar. Be careful.

Anything can happen! You must be having a girl since you're craving sweets! I actually have not had any food adversions or cravings I never experienced before! However, I do want chocolate a lot more often! :) Good luck!!
