Maybe you mean "Song of a German mother", a song written by Kurt Weill, lyrics by Bertolt Brecht?

Alas, there is no listing for a poem by that name. Could it have another name? Do a google advanced search using the exact words in one of the lines. It will be helpful

I also think it may be Kurt Weill. This is one of those frustrating questions because I am a huge lover of poetry and I feel I ought to know the answer!
I will now trawl my poetry bookshelves and write to you again later if i have any success.
