I had a vasectomy and about 3 months later, I began having pain in my left testicle. I called the doctor, they gave me an antibiotic (Keflex/Cephalexin) and it took care of the problem. Well, here I am one year later the the pain has returned. The doctor prescribed more Keflex. Is this pain, and bacterial infection a common issue after having a vasectomy?

You have something goin' on down there that is not good. See another doctor or go to the ER. Doctors don't likee to say "Dr. X screwed up", but if you go to the ER they'll do what's necessary to fix Dr. X's flub-up.
Good luck.

There are only two possibilities that come to mind. First you may have been lifting, or playing football too soon after your vasectomy, and gave yourself a herniated testicle (if I got the words correct). The other is the surgeon missed on of your sperm ducts, and cut a tendon.

I got mine 20 years ago. I never suffered any pain.

Your situation is very unusual.

I agree with those who say you should get a second opinion. I had mine several years ago, and experienced no pain and no complications after. Everyone's different, but if you have infection one year after, something's up. It may not even be a result of the vasectomy.

You will have yo ask your doctor that question. I know it wasn't for me. I was practically pain free and never had any infection. Good luck.
