We found about 6 of them pooled up on our front porch step (mom, dad and babies maybe) and saw some in our bushes. EEEKS!!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You bought my old house!!! That's one reason we left. When the snakes started crawling up the cedar next to the door and hanging like icicles, that did it!
You must live close to water so they will be around that. The porch was nice and warm for mating (aren't you honored).
There are snake repellants on the market such as Diatomaceous Earth or other irritants you might try sprinkling around.....remembering you'll need to reapply after every rain.
Also check around for holes they might be using as nests. We found a big one under a side door concrete slab. Fill those in.
I know they are harmless (except to my heart rate) and help control vermin (oh yeah, control their food source such as mice) and help control garden insects......but frankly I'd rather not be around them.

Don't mess with the eco-system. Garder snakes aren't harmful - stop being a wuss. Would you rahter have roaches or other nasty bugs crawling on your porch instead?
They are probably on your porch because it's sunny. Put some plants up to block the sun.

The best way I found to keep all types of snakes away from home and garden was Moth Balls. They have a weird smell but, they work. Place them around and under your home and out in your garden. I am telling you though the smell is strong but, not to bad to live with.

You can send them to my house. I have a couple of enthusiastic snake hunters (my 5-year-old twins), who would be more than happy to take them off your hands. They're disappointed that we have only 2 garter snakes in our yard.
Seriously, I think garter snakes are actually good to have around. They eat bugs and other pests and they're not harmful or venomous. But I understand--I'm not wild about them myself, always afraid I'm going to step on one barefoot--ewww! Maybe you could check with a pest control company or the agriculture(?) department of a nearby college?

Catch and release traps to relocate them? Get a dog or a mongoose? See if anyone will bring male children to your house!

Garder snakes are bennefial. I would remmend you leave them alone, just think of them as cute.

Garter snakes are harmless to humans, and are really great for getting rid of pests and vermin. Leave them where they are and enjoy!

Moth balls....
I threw a bunch of moth balls in my flower beds and they relocated.
Although I am unsure if this is the best approach, it definitely worked and I am once again weeding my flower beds. Lucky ME!
