The Blue Whale is not only the largest animal living on Earth, but in fact is the largest animal that has ever lived on Earth. The Blue Whale can grow to 33 m or 110 ft in length, and tips the scales at 181 metric tons or 200 short tons. This makes it approximately twice as massive as the Argentinosaurus, which is considered the largest and heaviest land animal that ever existed.

Actually, I heard a scientist say that the largest living organism was the Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia. I suppose it depends on your definition. Blue whale is a safe answer.

Whales. Actually Baleen whales of which the Blue Whale is the largest.
From Wikipedia:
"The baleen whales are characterized by baleen, a sieve-like structure in the upper jaw made of keratin, which they use to filter plankton from the water. They are the largest species of whale."
