As long as everything else internet wise is working it's more than likely a virus since the software is not working properly.

Yahoo Instant Messenger
There are at present no technical difficulties or service errors reported with Yahoo Messenger at present.
The problem is most likely your Internet connection.
There could be many reasons:
» Your Internet Service Provider has a lot of traffic
» Your firewall settings are blocking the application
» Your anti virus software might be blocking the application
» You might not have broadband
There are many reasons.
If you are having problems I suggest you:
Review the connection of your Internet via Start Menu and Networks
Disable or lower your firewall settings
All the best
Y!

I haven't experienced many problems with logging on and off with Yahoo. Have had a few "Taking a break" messages but haven't been 'kicked off.' It could be your ISP connection (too slow or other problems with your provider) or it could be the speed of your computer itself. Are you running several programs at once? If so. close some and see if it continues.
If it is none of the above, try asking Yahoo tech for help in finding what the problem is.

It could be Yahoo!'s fault, or it could be somethingwithin your personal preferences in your web browser.
I know for a fact, that about every 20 minutes, I have to re-submit my password while on Yahoo!.
BUT - I choose to do this, using my Yahoo! account preferences, since I share a computer and didn't want to risk anyone using my e-mail.
Check your Internet Explorer, FireFox or Safari web browser preferences...that might be switched on to a limited log-on time.

You need to uninstall and reinstal making sure to set correct parameters as to how long you can remain silent before it will auto-log off, also if you have a power problem or connection problem it will cause the same thing

The same thing happened to me, so I started fooling around on yahoo answers because, no matter which one I use, they both prove that I don't have a life.
