ah, like no... what do they expect you to do... after all they gave you access to the internet.

Depends on your company. I surf the net all the time, but I work for a small company (3 people, including me.. I'm the receptionist). My boss told me one day that he understands if I surf the net because sometimes, it does get slow in here and there's really nothing to do. Plus, for me personally, I think it's more "professional looking", so to speak, for a client to come into the office and see that I'm on the computer and not reading a magazine or book or anything (of course, the screen is facing away from the client, and I go to our homepage the minute one walks in).

During your lunch hour, or a formal break, it's OK unless your employer prohibits it - and it's their computer you're using, so they do have that right. If it's during the time you're supposed to be working, then yes, you're basically stealing work time that you're getting paid for.

of course. You are using company's time to surf the Internet and when the computers are for business purposes only. so, stopped robbing company's time and read a book when you are on a break.
