well, they will most likely admit you to the hospital and give you 2 steroid shots to boost your babys lungs, put you on IV with magnesium to prevent contractions.
if your water bag has broken, they will also give you antibiotics to prevent possible infection.
They will try to keep the baby inside for as long as possible. They will want the baby to stay in until at least 34 weeks
(they say there is no difference between a baby born at 34 weeks and a baby born at 37 weeks, other than size.)
I was just in the hospital at 29 weeks with a hole in my water bag (from a car accident) and they did all that to me in case I went into labor.
(I was actually flight lifted to a hospital 2 hrs. away because the hospital here ins't equipped to handle a delivery that early).
but now everything is going great! :)
I'm taking this baby to full term!
good luck! God bless!

At 27 weeks that is very preemie and all the complications that go along with a preemie would apply...under developed lungs, very small, among other things. Take it easy and get lots of rest. If you do go into labor alot of time they can give you medication to stop the labor and try to keep that baby safe for as long as possible.

Right now do exactly what the doc is telling you.

Good luck.

I had Preterm labor at 27 weeks. You need to call your doctor NOW! The earlier you call, the better they can take care of it. If you really are in labor, they will send you in and give you some shots of terbutaline and some IV's and see how you progress with that. They will check to see how you are and if you are still progressing. Chances are, you will not have your baby because they have ways to stop labor if you get their early enough.

Babies USUALLY survive this early, but will be in the NICU and have a lot of problems.

i`m also 27 weeks, i know that the baby lungs aren`t full developed making it really hard for them to breathe on there own, I believe there eyes are just beginning to open at this stage. It would be almost 2 months before the baby would be able to leave the hospital.

Well, a baby can survive if born that early. But having a preemie is very scary, and preemies take a lot of extra special care. Let's hope that your baby hangs in there a few more weeks!

Here are some stories I found for you.

Take it easy and rest!

well they will give you some meds to stop the contractions ( it's a little pill) also, they'll hold you in the hospital until you show you're ok. they'll put you on bedrerst. your baby may be ok or it may not. it all depedns on the baby. girls haev a higher survival rate as preemies especially if they are african american
PS just in case they'll give u a steroid shot to help mature the babies lungs
