If you are only 37 weeks pregnant, why are you so 'worried' about your dilation and effacement. This is your second child, and your WHOLE 'dilation and effacement' can take place AFTER YOU START YOUR FULL LABOR. You have 'at least three weeks' to go to 'term' and may go longer ... each baby is 'different' and you should NEVER RUSH the birth. If you are in 'medical necessity' then the doctor can 'induce labor' but NOT IF YOU ARE WELL. As for 'stripping your membranes' ... EEEW. I would NEVER ask for that, and think it's an UNECESSARY PROCEDURE ... one that is 'done' just so the 'mother to be' thinks something has been 'done' ... so just 'sit back, relax, and enjoy your first child' ... and soon enough it will be 'over' and you'll be the 'mom of two' ...

LOL!!! I love the "Pirate Ship" idea... I was going to try that at a fair last week but I chickened out!
Try a hot bath with 3 or 4 drops of Clarysage oil... I lost my mucus plug not long after I did that!
BUT... I've been 2 cms dilated since 37 weeks, and I was suposedly due today and NOTHING... Not one eensy contraction - AAARGH!! I walked 4 kms this morning too, I'm knackered, my ankles are swollen and I'm NOT in labour!!
Stripping membranes is quite effective, yes, but not a sure thing, if baby doesn't want to come, the nothing will make him/her - trust me, I'm finding out the hard way, ha ha!!
*Mum to Alex, 5 (who was 3 days late), and Encarni, due today!*

Stripping membranes means that she'll run her finger along the edges of your cervix where the sac is to "irritate" it and try to get labor going. It works! I went into labor after 2 sessions each a week apart. But normally they won't start doing this until you are full term... wait a week. I know, I know, it's complete torture when you're that far along to have someone say that to you!! I can sympathize! Good luck!!!!

The baby will come when it's ready. I am almost 39 weeks preggo, and at my apt last week i was 2cm & 50%-. Funny how they tell us this- you can go into labor tonight or you could walk around like that for weeks. I agree on GET SOME SLEEP!

I've had three babies and two were late. The second so late he had to be induced and then an emergency caesarian, because the placenta died. With my third I decided no way I was going to be late!
With two weeks before my due date I went on the "pirate ship" - a sort of roller coaster ride. That baby came a day early!

Honey, a normal pregnancy is 40 weeks, you still have 3 weeks to go. Don't push things too much but try walking, lots and lots of walking. I know you feel miserable and are ready to have the baby, but it will happen in due time. Relax and walk, walk, walk.

An acupuncturist I worked for suggested that I try it to induce. I went for the induction via my doc. But it is an idea to consider if all others have been tried to no avail. Good Luck and Enjoy your new little one!! Hugs-Kuka

The baby will come when the baby is ready. It is the baby that decides when to be born.
Read this and you will understand. Good luck! Be patient!

Enjoy your sleep while you can, once the baby is born you may not sleep much till you get in a routine.
