I live in Hollywood CA. Help me start a new life. My old one is over.

Try getting involved in a sport or activity. Make a new hobby then become friends with others who enjoy the same thing you do.

Hollywood is not the Hollywood of 20 years ago. So, you're not really "back". If you returned because of memories of what used to be, sorry.... it's changed.
As in any new community, to meet people you have to get outside your own home. So, go to community activities such as a night class at the community college, or join a church, or get a dog and take it for walks through the neighborhood, or join a club, or go to your local government open to the public sessions, or meet your friends at work.

Hollywood CA., well you certainly picked an interesting place to live. How about hanging out with some of the people you work with, just to start? Are you churchy or secular? Go to church or hang out with the secular humanists, they're both listed in the book. Do you consider yourself to be a person that people would want to know? Take a chance and join someone at a table for one. Its not a line to ask someone if they would mind sharing a table. It's not needy to want human companionship. If you get rejected, how awful, now there are only 5,999,999,999 other people to talk to who might like you for you. Do I follow my own advice? Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

i live there too! I'll be your friend....
I moved back and forth from hollywood to long beach since i was 16....
in hollywood, it's really easy to make friends.
Just dont go to the key club alone on tuesdays!!

Join some groups & clubs in something that really interests you...take some night courses...volunteer...join Facebook.com...it's free & you can network with peolpe all over the world...there's an events area in there to update you on whats going on in California...

Join a nice church (for spiritual reasons, please)
Volunteer for a group
Attend lectures/concerts/exhibits

Attend community meetings.

Go to the Y and start a membership (and use it!), go to a church of your choice that makes you feel like you are welcome and necessary and go every weekend. My husband and I moved 2 1/2 years ago and I have made friends at church and the Y and I see a lot of members of my church at the Y and we talk. It is a good feeling to finally have friends again.

Be friendly to your niehbors, plan get togethers with Co workers and find a hobby or take a class and make friends with the people there.

You shouldnt worry on what other people think about you and friends will just come to you. The same think happened to me and this worked.
