Added to all the posts so far about malware and spyware, do you know how much RAM your computer has? Even a new computer will struggle if it doesn't have much RAM. Laptops are still being sold with 512MB RAM and processors around 1GHZ, and if you try to run a couple of large applications at the same time it will be slow. I assume you are not running Vista as this was released less than 6 months ago. Vista uses masses of RAM, and some software like Norton Antivirus also takes up a lot of processing power. Either of these could make normal stuff like IE seem very slow.

well, it could just be a problem with the operating system. After a while of installing/uninstalling/deleting software and all kinds of things it can slow down. You have programs trying to run as soon as the computer boots and then you have all these registry keys that sometimes get left behind.

(if you are running windows you can try going to Start>run>type - "msconfig"> click on the startup tab and make sure there arent a ton of programs like AIM and such trying to load at start up.

Spyware Blaster is also a good tool :)

There is a lot more to keeping a computer fast than just Defragmenting and Disk cleaning.

You need to run Spyware, Adware and virus scans regularly.

Your PC is infected with malware.

Use the link below to learn more. Then, you need: an Anti-virus (AVG), a Firewall (Zone Alarm), and Windows Defender, Spybot, AdAware and Spyware Blaster (use all 4, they're free).

Google for them and learn how to use them.

TIP: Last resort, back up (copy to CD) all personal data and re-install Windows.

Try a good spyware removal program like "Spybot Search & Destroy" to get rid of some of that internet junk that gets loaded onto your computer. That might help a bit. Good luck.

Since your laptop is still new, contact the manufacturer on line. I hope you have a virus protector, as this can be the problem too. Good luck.
