One man for sure was General Douglas MacArthur. He insisted and, in fact was going to go North and bomb China for invading. He worked with and set up the Government of Japan and brought them out of the dark ages after the bomb, then went to Korea.
Truman was jealous it seemed that Mac wouldn't listen to him and claimed to be concerned that if he followed his orders to bomb China, there would be an all out war. I wonder what Harry called it, when China invaded and drove us to the sea of Japan before we recovered and sent them back to the Yalu.
MacArthur was recalled and, believe this or not, some wanted him for president but, old age and war weary, MacArthur retired at I believe Fort Sill Ok.
He was one heck of a General and the only five star General we had.
