Does anybody know of any clothing stores that buy and sell used/new clothing? There used to be a store, in Centereach Long Island, called "Plato's Closent" that did this. They recently closed down and I've been looking for another store that will do the same thing!

I have a ton of clothing that I would like to sell but I don't know of any more places that buy used/new clothing. And eBay is too time consuming, lol. :)

You should try looking for a Plato's closet closer to you even if it's not in the same town. They have plenty of them around where I live. Otherwise, I'd suggest a consignment shop like all the rest of the answers :o) Good luck!

IF you can actually sell the clothing for more than you paid for it (unlikely, but let's assume), then it's perfectly legal and acceptable. In fact, in many places there are large stores which do exactly that, although they are buying direct from other stores wholesale, rather than buying retail as you suggest. Your problem is that, if the clothing sells for $20, and you try to resell for say $30 ( a very minimal markup for a retail store), why wouldn't your buyers simply go the the original store and pay the $20? But if the math works out, it's definitely legal.

Look in your phone book for consignment shop listings. They sell the items for you and then split the profits.

If it is children's clothing you can bring it to Once Upon a Child in Seaford, NY and they will give you some money for it.
