Repair it quick

Meh,

600 is a lot for repairing an LCD.

You could probably find it cheaper on ebay, and pay a local shop to replace it.

But you would be better off just replacing it probably. If it was only 900 new, then it will probably be around 700 now for a new one.

If you get the same model, you could use the one you broke for spare parts. Or you can sell it on ebay.

What a pain! :P

Do you have a manufacturer's warranty on it? You MIGHT be able to swing it and have them fix it if it's covered under that warrantly.

If not, can you check into a place like Best Buy or some local repair shop that can fix it cheaper than the manufacturer can?

Worse come to worse, it sounds more sensible to probably just purchase a new one. Things never seem to work as well as they do before they are damaged. It may save you money in the long run down the road. :)

Replace it. You may well have damaged other components as well when you dropped it.

Over the past 5 to 6 months either the price will have come down somewhat (maybe to $850) or there will have been various minor improvements so you get more for your $900.

I bought my laptop on sale at Best Buy for $500 or so after rebates. It was an HP Pavilion. Unfortunately, these days, you'd probably end up with Vista if you were to buy a new computer. You'll have to shop around, compare prices and decide if you want to be bothered with Vista. You might find a better deal by buying a new one than fixing the old one. It's something to think about.

Replace it, sometimes when you get something repair there is always something that keeps getting broken and have to keep fixing it, you might be able to find something better than the one you bought 5 months ago.

i'd say replace it as long as you can recover any important info from the broken one.... 600 dollars is almost as much as a new one costs...
besides, 5 months... now a days... thats an old computer, youd be replacing the original in about 5 months from now anyway, so why not get a head start on things....
good luck

Replace, why risk having more problems with it later due to the drop?

Maybe sell it on ebay or craigslist.
