Fiber! Get some of those chewey fiber things. Thats the only thing that helped me. And it will work like within a day. And keep on drinking water, that really does help. I had the same problem. And I recommend not taking stool softeners or suppositories. I ended up having backed up diharrea behind hard stool, and had such bad gas pains I ended up in the hospital and needed two enemas. It sucks! But the fiber will work. Hope ive helped. And congratulations!

Are you taking an iron supplement? If so that would very likely be the cause. Try taking some vitamin C with your iron, maybe in orange juice [unless that gives you heartburn-if so try another fruit as long as you get that vitamin C].
Hope that helps.

Stool softeners are a big help, as is milk of magnesia, but I'm not sure about the M.o.M. early in the pregnancy, ask your doctor. Congrats & Good Luck!

Glycerin suppositories are perfectly safe will clear up the temporary problem, and them hopefully the fibre and water will work in the long term. Try the infant dose, it's more than enough for me.

My sister took a thing called Fybogel. It's a powder you dissolve in water and take 1 or 2 times a day, depending on how badly you need it. It works wonders.

Ask your doctor to give you a list of things you can take for constipation.

Try taking a fibre supplement like metamucil or something like that. If that doesn't work, talk to your doctor and they may suggest a suppository or something to help.
