The difference is that the liberals intolerance is personal, not legal. The liberal does not like your boorish behavior but is not seeking laws that put you in jail for saying stupid stuff. In fact the liberal will disagree with you all the way while defending your right to say and do mean, intolerant things. But the liberal is not obligated to approve of your rants.
The people that are truly intolerant want be free to do as say as they please and to legally stop the people they do not approve of from living their lives in a free and open society enjoying all of the same rights and priveledges of every other citizen.
If you say bad things about gays, you are merely a bigot. If you seek to punish gay people, treat them as second class citizens and take away their rights with laws and that apply to them and not everyone because you do not like them, that is intolerance
One other thing, the liberal actually respects the constitution, which says the government cannot establish or outlaw a religion. So the only people I know that want to outlaw some religions and force others to worship as they do are conservatives.

Answer: I dont expect you to accept homosexuality. I expect you to respect the rights of others to conduct their sexual lives in the way they feel best for them. You can hate it all you want.
Answer: I do not care if you own a gun. The constitution gives you the right to bear arms. Nowhere does it say that the state/govt is not allowed to ensure that your ownership of that gun is done in a safe manner. IE through registration, etc. The constitution also says the people have the right to peacable assemble, however this is not allowed without licenses etc, is it?
Answer: (you mentioned gays twice? this a sore subject for you?) If you speak offensively about gays you ARE a bigot. If that is what you are, why should it bother you if people say you are such? Hey, be proud of what and who you are. As for "taking a duke at the virgin mary"...If you are referring to some of the more bizarre out there..hey, the artist has a point..call him a religion hating jerk if you wish. Again..he probably is what he is, and should be proud of it as well. I do have to wonder though, exactly where in the world you heard someone suggesting Christianity be outlawed? Debate by hyperbole is pointless and is counterproductive. Try to avoid it from now on, shall we?
Think what you want to think. Believe what you want to believe. Just dont try to push those beliefs onto others. THAT is what is truly offensive.

Bottom line is what is the definition of tolerance.HMMM.Putting up with something you dont agree with.
We all have tolerance.It doesnt mean we have to agree with what is going on.
Bottom line is this country is supposed to be for the people,by the people.Niether party could give a crap less what Americans want.All we want is for them to butt out and stop taking all of our money to pay for things we dont agree with.
Iraq war,illegal immigrants getting welfare and having rights.Having to be forced to learn spanish.
Plain and simple Government as is:is a disgrace to this country.Our forefathers who fought and some died to make us free would not tolerate any of this.
So before you just blame Liberals you need to take a look at the republicans to.
I myself am a libertarian.I believe we dont need a federal government telling us what to do

Umm...
The 2nd Amendment protects the right to bear arms for a well regulated militia;
I have never once heard any Liberal try to outlaw Christianity, nor have I heard any of them attempt to impose Wiccan beliefs on anyone;
The "duke" on the Virgin Mary would be considered as an exercise of 1st Amendment rights (which is interesting, as you want to protect your interpretation of the 2nd, but not the 1st);
The Liberals I have talked to don't have any interest in whether anyone "accepts" homosexuality in the way you infer: they want homosexuals to have the same civil rights as others in our society.
Interestingly, for the most part your problems seem to be with the US Constitution, and not any specific group of people...

I'm a liberal and your examples stereo-types. But to answer your specific question about tolerance, I can only say we're tired. We're fed up. We've been lied to, led into a war under false pretenses, sent out loved ones to this war we don't believe in, spent billions of dollars, having no say in how it's spent, WE'RE TIRED.
Try to open your mind up to people that are different from you. You have the right to disagree, but your examples speak volumes about your tolerance. No one is forcing you to accept "some lame hippy wicca religion".

First, not all liberals fit into your category. Think before you speak please.
Second, those that do the 'name calling' and 'unacceptance' of your views are the ones that believe they have to fight for those who don't have a voice. Perhaps it's a Jesus Syndrome, but it's what they do. Do you expect people to be perfect?

They did not give you the whole word, it is totalitarian tolerance.
Also I reviewed the constitution today and could not find that right they are always talking about, that we have to be tolerant. We do not have to be tolerant, tis not the law.

Okay, let me explain this slowly. No one is expecting you to accept anyone's beliefs/lifestyles/political views as your own that you don't believe in. What liberals do want is tolerance: "tolerance" means "to put up with." We would like to see you tolerate your gay neighbor without spray-painting the ten commandments on his front door or stringing him up on a barb wire fence. We would like to see you tolerate your wiccan neighbor instead of burning her at the stake.
You can say anything you want; however, don't expect that you won't draw criticism. That's the beauty of free speech. You can say what you want, people who disagree with you can say what they want. They can voice their disagreement or disapproval about what you say. You can do the same. This also covers creative expression.
Last time I checked, gun ownership was alive and well in U.S. No one has been thrown into jail for owning a gun. The same goes for religion. No one is forcing you to worship anything, and everyone is encouraging you to worship who, what, when and how you choose.

If you are against homosexuality, then you don't deserve to have your views respected. What's next, do you want us to start respecting people's racist and sexist ideas? Nobody's buying your infantile belief that tolerance = not holding people accountable for their hateful ideas. And don't even try to equate a bigot's hatred with the hatred people feel towards bigots.
Ooooh, look at the poor OPPRESSED homophobes. God, cry me a river.

I think someone took a "duke" on your brain.
You confuse tolerance, acceptance, and respect multiple times in this post.
You say that liberals preach tolerance, then give an example of how they don't respect or accept you. That is because acceptance and respect are not tolerance.
