Although I strongly recommend that both you and your boyfriend wait until you are (1) physically fit to have a child, as at 17 it is possible that your body is still maturing, and (2) financially and mentally able to care for a child. At 17 and 18, I'm assuming that neither of you have graduated college, or possibly not even high school, and most likely do not have a career that is firmly established enough to begin considering caring for anotehr person, much less yourselves. I was pregnant at 17, and I was nowhere near ready for it. I grew up quickly and had to sacrifice a lot in order to provide my daughter with the life she deserves, and it took several years of not being able to provide her with everything she deserved before I could. I implore you to think carefully and weigh the consequences of your decision to have a child so young, because you are not just affecting your lives, but that of a child who did not choose to have unwed teenage parents who are not ready to take care of themselves much less an infant.
That said, there are several ways to tell if your are ovulating. One is basal body temperature, or BBT. Track your BBT over the course of several months, and you will notice a three to five days out of the month, between 10 and 20 days after your period, that your body temperature rises a a degree or two. During this time you are ovulating and are able to become pregnant. You will notice your vaginal fluid becoming eggy and stretchy during this time too, another sign of ovulation. Your cervix will be high and open (you can check with your finger, if your cervix is higher than normal in your vagina, you are ovulating).
If you are going to have a child at such a young age, at least educate yourself on sex, conception, pregnancy, and child rearing. You may be far too young for the wisdom to see what teenage pregnancy does to the children of these couplings, but you can at least be educated instead of ignorant of the processes that are involved.

Obstetric-pregnancy and gynecologist-every other issue related to the reproductive organ. BTW an obstetric it's a surgeon related to pregnancy and women problems.
So when you look for your reproductive health always looks for a doctor with both specialties!!!
Congrats on your marriage!!!
And about your question(btw I'm 22) when you buy fertility tests those are to know when you are fertile and about to ovulate.
An ovulation consist of the release of the ovum(egg) which can became fertilize if you had sex in those 24 hours(you can have sex 3 days before always having sex one day and every other day, increase your chances) that the egg will survive(meaning that our body is made always to get pregnant when we don't we release the egg as blood and clots that's when our period comes!)
Another tip: When you see in the fertility test a positive LH surge it means you will ovulate(if you took it every morning) in the following 24 to 36 hours! So that means GO have sex!!! And let him come inside!! Is a sure bet you will get pregnant.
And wonderful and marvelous last tip:
When you least think about pregnacy it will eventually happen!!
GOOD LUCK!!!
