State of Wisconson - Raise your gas prices?

Question

The State of Wisconson is telling a gas station owner to raise his prices. He was offering discounted gasoline to senior citizens and youth sports boosters. With the price of gas right now, why would they do that? They are still getting their tax money. Is this price fixing by the state?

I live in Wisconsin and we pay the highest gas taxes in the country. The state is also run by liberals so they want to squeeze every last penny out of the small business owner

As of today 10/07/2014 Wisconsin is one of the few states that have Higher gasoline prices. A lot of other states are at 3.00 per gallon or less. Why is this state always lagging behind?

This is not "price fixing" so much as a law that was enacted to protect smaller gas station owners from predatory pricing by large corporations. I don't agree with the law, but it has a rational basis.

Why are you so taken aback by this all of a sudden?

I'm from Wi. and I just heard about that!! I think that is terrible that the state is doing that...I feel that what the owner of that station is doing is awesome!!! What a great guy to give his customers a break....sometimes the state just gets a bit money hungry....they already have our property taxes super high, we need a break somewhere!!!

Technically, you're spinning the story.

The guy isn't being asked to raise his prices, but to charge the same price to everyone.

Personally, I believe no one has a right to tell him he can't give that discount to whomever he wishes, but don't lie about what the article says.
