What does it mean to stratify seeds? These are arnica seeds.?

to stratify seeds means to put them through a winter period. they need the cold period to be able to germinate. I don't know how cold or how long for arnica seeds... sorry.

My money says stratify refers to cracking or cutting the seed coat in an effort to help with the seedlings emergence. Sometimes simply cracking them slightly is all that is needed.
