It will take 6 weeks for the bone to fully heal and be able to bear all of your weight. If you do not listen to the advice of your doctor then you could slow the healing process significantly.

Well this all depends on what sort off fracture you substained, where the fracture is and your age.Yes normally Tibula and Fibula fractures can take up to 6 wks but it all depends how quick the fractures reunites too,so it could be longer, some surgeon do sometimes give a rough estimate time off healing.Once you have been in the full cast for a few wks your cast will be reduce to below the knee with a walking shoe, you will then be able to walk but only with the aid off crutches dont put all your weight on the cast until the consultant tells you too,as you can do more damage.Good Luck if you want any more advice email me.I know what im talking about i apply plaster casts all day every day.

Hi this all dpend on a few things, your age,the type off fracture you substained, how you done this injury.Colles fractures normally take between 6-10wks to heal but sometimes after the fracture has healed you may stil get some swelling and discomfort for a further few mths.Just do what he Consultant has told you and the fracture will heal in time.Good Luck

no one can give you an exact time for healing, there are too many variables involved, for instance, how severe the break was, the unique quality of your individual ability to rebuild bone and heal. If the doctors said six weeks, then count on it being at least that long, it could be longer, as that number is a generality....some heal quicker, some heal slower, it's an average.

I'm out in sympathy, I've fractured a bone in my arm, the doctor said 3 weeks, its been just over a week now and my 2nd xray didn't look any different from the first, but I'm maintain my faith in their word. I'd imagine each bone, and age of person will depend on the healing time.

good luck with your recovery

6 - 8 weeks is usual for a leg to remain in plaster; it's one of the main supporting bones in the body, so you have to be very careful for a while after the plaster comes off; you should have physiotherapy for it anyway, and take any excercising slow and easy.

It depends on your age, and how fit you were before you broke the bone; all that will stand to you. But you should be able to put full weight on it very quickly...just don't rush things. i think it takes about six months for a bone to return to full strength.
