I thought i heard somewhere that he was. I looked up his numbers, they dont seem too great, solid but not HOF material.

I know hes in it for his hitting, but i was under the impression that he was also recognized for his pitching. Like how some people are in it as both players and managers.

good point john, at a second look his numbers dont look good in total, but when you break it down to what he did each season they are pretty impressive. Despite his growing dominance at the plate it makes you wonder why they took him off the mound.

People are inducted as players, not pitchers or hitters, and his numbers don;t look great because he only pitched a few years.

He probably does have a section with his name on it in the hall of fame as a pitcher because he still holds some world series records as a pitcher to this day. He only pitched a few seasons at the beginning of his career. He is in the Hall because he is the greatest baseball player to ever play.

Babe Ruth is in the Hall of Fame as a baseball player - the best baseball player of all-time. He was an outstanding pitcher and in fact still holds several major league pitching records, as well as being the power hitter he is known and loved for.

The Hall doesn't officially make any distinction about what the player was elected for, so technically he's not in the HOF as a pitcher or as a position player.

No, he made it because of his hitting skills and numbers.
