I would recommend that you finish your current Bachelor degree and then pursue (even if its not right away) a Master degree in either Counseling or Social Work. Having a Master degree in this field allows you do to more things (and easier to bill insurance for that matter) and it will be more likely that you will become a supervisor. Ever supervisor I've known has had a Master degree.

If you know someone in the field who is doing what you are doing, I would recommend that you contact him/her about what steps he/she took to get where they are.

If you are only 10 credits away from a degree in Human Services, you may as well stick with that. Counselors come from all walks of education, so the type of degree is secondondary to actually earning the degree.

While you are finishing your 10 credits, you should elect to intern or volunteer somewhere related to your field. Build a good contact list for yourself by working with people in the field you are pursuing, and your reputation will open doors quickly for you.

Then, when you have completed your Human Services degree, your contacts from the counseling field will be able to help match you with employment as a counselor. Specialization to work with teens may need to wait until the Masters level - I am really not sure how that works.

Good luck!

It is difficult to get into counselling with a bachelors degree. Otherwise try a double major in education with your human services. That cannot hurt when working with teens either.

Good luck.

i think of it relies upon on what diploma you have and/or how committed and passionate you're approximately succeeding in regardless of that's you want to do. There are analyze which prepare that having an training a great deal improves ones existence and the existence of their destiny households yet i think of you will locate that there is a hell of alot of human beings working in telemarketing that have a college diploma. additionally there alot of human beings in extreme powered jobs of their industry who have been given there with the aid of an internship or menial interest on the backside and made it according to dedication and perseverance. in my opinion i think of working your way up with the aid of an industry proves you want to do it extra advantageous than somebody that studied it at uni. And mutually as having an training can strengthen your existence as you're extra attentive to the marvelous issues in the international and are much less probably to be biased or racist regardless of lack of expertise can sometimes be bliss. sometimes having an know-how of the international in basic terms makes you extra attentive to the injustices of it after which you go around being annoyed at politics etc extremely than enjoying the small yet staggering issues on your individual existence. so in answer on your question i think of a college diploma will in basic terms make a distinction to three peoples lives according to their worry-loose outlook and in the event that they have a occupation in ideas the place that's actual had to have a diploma. Or in the event that they are content cloth to be an academic and their want in existence is to continuously study.
