I am hoping that they stay too. I worry about the democrats pulling them all home. When the democrats got elected, there was talk about them wanting to have them come back. It makes me worry.
Yes I know that there is always military overseas. I was referring to the people that were sent to iraq. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

They come home when the mission is done! My son is one of them. He served two years spanning 2003,2004,2005 and 2006, and now has orers back to Korea for stagging to Iraq for his 5th and 6th combat tour! God Bless them all!

The majority of the troops should come home at the same time that the US declares the Iraqi government legitimate. The Iraqi government should request UN financial and military aid, and the US should leave "advisors" in place to "assist" the Iraqi army in dealing with insurgents. The Iraqi army MUST be seen to be primarily responsible for dealing with their own security.
We can "advise" all we want, but we MUST stop taking primary responsibility for insuring Iraqi governmental security.

I find it appalling that everyone thinks Democrats just want to "cut and run," even though that is only a talking point conservatives use. Democrats still think the war is Afghanistan is just, only dragged out and mismanaged because of Iraq. Very few Dems want to see all troops pull out of Iraq, and want to keep specialists as a means for training and advising to help the Iraqi government in stability.
The point is making the Iraqi's govern, police and defend themselves, to bring the troops home from "major combat operations" and to meet the benchmarks they and the administration agreed to.

They're not done there. Yes, what they've done is awesome, but the Iraqis aren't ready to take over their country yet. If we leave now, it'll be disastrous - like Vietnam, where we pulled out of before we were done.
Support the troops, and bring them home when they're done!

The troops I have spoken with said that the Iraqi people hate them, and they are not wanted. The majority of the troops that I have talked with believe that we should get out of there. The troops that I have encountered that think we should stay, refer to the people of Iraq as "sand ***@#$!" and claim that we should kill as many of them as possible. What a shame! We need to leave as soon as possible.

They are doing what they were trained to do and what most of them want to do. They want to stay and finish the job they are there to do. Let them stay until the job is done. Support them, pray for them, but don't tie their hands.
It is the President's job to make these decisions in time of war. He is the Commander in Chief of the Armed forces. There is a good reason that war decisions are not made by popular opinion. The people historically have turned against war the longer it went on. If past Presidents backed out of war based on popular opinion we probably would not have won any of the wars we were involved in. We don't go into war lightly, we can't lose our nerve just because it doesn't meet our expectations. Finish the job!

they need to come home this was a failed mission a long time ago. troops can't give their opinion on the war because they don't have an opinion of their own.they have been brainwashed so much of course the answer would be, "Yeh of course we should stay."
i talked to about five marines that just came back from iraq and said they should have been pulled out a long time ago.

I say stop policing the world and bring the troops home. The mission has been over. We waste taxpayer's money by keeping troops abroad - billions of dollars every day. Let the Iraqis take care of their own security.

We shouldn't end the mission. It's not finished.
In any event, the troops still won't be coming home.
It's not like the U.S. armed forces sit around in garrisions stateside peeling potatoes.
They are either operating or they are training to operate. War in Iraq or no war in Iraq.

I think we should finish what we started. Bringing them home will do nothing to help the United States and its place in the world and in fact leaving Iraq in the lurch will do far more damage than good for both Iraq and the US.
