How do i convert nrg files so that they become mpeg4 files for the ipod?

I have a movie but it is in nrg format and total video convertor will not let me convert it to ipod mpeg 4 or ipod mov mpeg4, therefore i cannot import it into itunes and watch it on my ipod. if anyone knows how i can convert this file so it will work on my ipod please let me know. ty
