I had something come across my fax machine about a 10-day trip to Florida for $300* (the *= must pay taxes and see a timeshare presentation)
Is this really too good to be true?

Yes it is "too good to be true".

Don't fall for any of these fax scams, they don't save you a penny and often cost more. There are all kinds of fees to be paid up front and restrictions on travel. That doesn't mean that timeshares are a scam, they have other problems, but any offer from a fax should go straight to the round file.

It's not a bad deal... I typically ask how long the timeshare presentation will last up front. If they won't give me a duration (which is typical), I inform them that they have an hour and a half. I always set my cell phone's alarm to go off at the right time.

If the duration has lapsed, and they're trying to keep me somewhere or holding out on whatever free gift I may be entitled to after the presentation, I have no problem being rude and standoffish.

I've certainly had my share of bad timeshare presentations, but there have been plenty of friendly ones as well.

Every one that we have taken advantage of were honest. But the timeshare presentation and greasy hard pressure salespeople one must endure are 2 to 4 hours of agony.
