off. why does the front tail lights stay on?

try a new headlight switch......it's not breaking the power to the lights......

Some of those cars came with a combination headlight switch that allowed the headlights to remain ON after the ignition was turned OFF.

The delay time is variable and is controlled by a secondary knob on the headlight switch.

If this type of switch does not turn the lights off after one full minute, or if you do have only the standard switch, then you need to replace it.
