It depends on the laws of your local jurisdiction.

In Maryland, for example, if the landlord sells the property, the new owner is required to honor all terms of the lease that existed between you and the former owner. The fact that you are living in your apartment is considered sufficient notice to the new owner.

You should pay your rent to your former landlord until the sale of the property is completed, at which time you will establish a relationship with the new owner. If the new owner chooses to evict you, he'll be bound by the laws of your local jurisdiction in effecting the eviction.

I dont understand your original question, but you SHOULD ALWAYS pay your rent; deal with the other situation as a separate problem.

If he sold the land/apartment, then he should have given you at least 30 days notice so you have time to find a place; however, that's something you'd have to take him to court over to recover any expenses that would make you to leave or work it out with the new owner (maybe they are planning to rent out the apartment).

Always pay rent..he still HAS to give you a 30 day notice to move out because he has put his place up for sale, also if you signed a YEARS lease with this person and there is still months left on it, he I believe has to pay you what is owed it would be the same if you ran out on a lease he'd make you pay for it right..call your local Gov office they have free renter rights booklets
