For the same reason there's heterosexuals, and bisexuals, and lesbians. It's diversity, it's natural. A single state of being is unnatural. Nature does not think like humans, so application of human "logic" is pointless.
It serves some kind of natural purpose, we just don't know what it is, but we do know we have a huge sexual orientation spectrum, and that's just the way things are.

Why are there lefties? Little people? Albinos? Men who go bald at 20? Italians with blond hair? There are plenty of other examples of hereditary "abnormalities" that cross racial and geographic lines, that are neither inherently good nor bad in and of themselves. Just accept it.

Because while we were fetuses our X chromosomes got the hots for other X chromosomes. The Y chormosomes didn't do a thing for us.
